About the Artist

With a background in humanitarian relief work that has taken her around the world, Meredith Sevin is profoundly grateful for the gift of exposure to all walks of life.  Recognizing the fundamental human experience and emotion that unites us all, Meredith loves working in the abstract in order to tap into the emotional currents that we all share.  Meredith lives in Texas with her husband, two boys and dog, Gus.

Artist Statement

.My goal is to celebrate nature in the abstract, which enables me to focus on the emotion and energy of the subject.  My process varies, but it’s always intuitive and iterative.  I believe a painting has to have a life of its own, so although planning is always involved, I strive to give it the freedom to evolve because that’s where the magic happens.  Deviating from the plan is easily my greatest challenge and also what makes it fun.

My medium is predominantly acrylic paint on large-scale canvas with frequent use of oil pastels, charcoal, and pencils.  Although it has its challenges, I love the visual impact at scale and the way it envelopes the viewer in the mood of the piece.
